Hello Cousins,
After
8 years of research, it is with great excitement that I am announcing
the launch of the Campbell Web site. This web site documents the
descendants of Samuel Campbell and Euphemia. I have only posted
the first 4 generations (the foundation). As you know the Campbell
and Spaulding families have been connected for well over a hundred
years. I am hoping that all of you visit the web site. I would love
to have your feedback. I will be updating the web site on a regular
base as additional information becomes available. There will be
a follow up book in hard copy scheduled for a 2008 - 2009 release.
This book will include up to 8 generations as well as Old photos.
If you see that your ancestors are listed on the web site, I invite
you to contact me to confirm my information is accurate and also
I need your help in providing additional information on subsequent
generations 4 thru 8. My thanks go out to my entire fellow researcher
for their contributions.
I
hope someone can identify the two Welches Creek family's. 1880's-1900's.
.They were living on the John Richard Baldwin/Hampton farm. The
Joshua Blanks family was living next door and could be the photo
of the large family of 12. The first photo is of my Great Uncle
Dr. Oscar Brent Baldwin (1877) son of Martha and Fran Baldwin (1838)
of Welches Creek Township. I don't have a guess of who the other
family is. Thanks!

GERTRUDE
DANIELS
IT'S 101 FOR MRS. DANIELS, WEEK OF MAY 5-11, 2005
by MARIAN CRUMDY
The Wilmington Journal
Family and friends from many parts of the country gathered at
Town Hall, April 16, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate the 101st
birthday of Mrs. Gertrude Mitchell Daniels.
On April 13, 1804, God gave Rev. Schofield and Suzie Mitchell
the gift of a baby, Gertrude. She was the twelfth of thirteen
children. Her father was a farmer and a preacher, pastoring part-time
at what is currently St. Andrew AME Zion Church.
Gertrude attended school in Freeman, North Carolina. She continued
her education in Wilmington and upon graduating, enrolled in Teacher’s
Summer School, Vineland, North Carolina and received a teaching
certificate.
She taught in Bladen County at East Arcadia. Gertrude met John
Daniels and became his bride in 1925. After moving to Wilmington,
they both joined St. Andrew AME Zion Church. John and Gertrude
provided a loving home for daughter Alma and granddaughter Jacqui.Twenty-seven
years later, they were blessed with another daughter, Johnsie.
Gertrude discovered her talent for arranging flowers and opened
Daniels Flower Shop. She impacted the lives of the community and
businesses through her flowers. She donated altar flowers at church
every first Sunday in remembrance of John Daniels until she retired.
Not only a talented florist, she was also a talented seamstress.
After 26 years in the floral business, she retired at the age
of 90. She is the last living child of Schofield and Suzie Mitchell.
She remains a member of St. Andrew AME Zion Church.
Greetings were given by Mrs. Amelia Bridges with prayer by Rev.
Aaron Moore. Salutations were given from St. Andrew AME Zion Church
by Mrs. Barbara Richburg, City of Wilmington by Mrs. Sheryl Payne,
the floral industry by Mr. Lawrence Epps and funeral industry
by Mrs. Allene Drain.
During dinner, a slide presentation designed by Mr. and Mrs. Windell
Butler was presented. Mrs. Posey Johnson recited a poem called
“Ode to a Centenarian” which she wrote in honor of
Mrs. Daniels.
Salutations on behalf of the family were given by Tamika Davis
Bierlein, granddaughter, and remarks were ade by daughter Jacqui
Brown and Johnsie Davis.
The family of Mrs. Daniels would like to thank all who assisted
with catering, hosting, and planning as well as everyone who was
present to celebrate 101 years of a life filled with love, joy
and happiness.
